Walls of Clay has been in downtown McKinney for 25+ years. Our practices, policies, and procedures are fair. Our number one goal is to provide an awesome experience for our guests, and our policies help us do that.

Deposit Payment and Gratuity

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your party date and time. We will apply the deposit toward the total cost of the party.

The remaining balance, including any additional painters and applicable sales tax, is due at the end of the party. We accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not accept checks for final payment. You may add an optional gratuity at checkout.

Rescheduling, Cancellations and No Shows

A party may be rescheduled one time when Walls of Clay receives advance notice. The deposit will remain on account and may be applied toward another available party date. Deposits cannot be transferred to other services, events, or merchandise.

If you cancel the party, the deposit is forfeited. No-shows will not receive a refund or credit. To reschedule or cancel, call 972.547.4472. If the studio is closed, please leave a message.

Package Price and Number of Painters

Birthday party packages are priced for up to 9 painters. Every person who paints counts toward that total, including each birthday child. Twins, triplets, or friends celebrating together do not increase the number of painters included in the package price.

Examples: One birthday child plus 8 guests equals 9 painters. Twins plus 7 guests equals 9 painters. Triplets plus 6 guests equals 9 painters. Two best friends celebrating together plus 7 guests also equals 9 painters.

You may add painters up to the room maximum of 12 painters. The additional-painter price depends on the selected package. If fewer than 9 people paint, the minimum package price still applies. A younger or older sibling, parent, or relative may use an available included spot if they would like to paint. Anyone attending who does not paint is not counted as a painter.

Final Headcount

A final headcount is required 3 days before the party. We typically send a check-in email on the Wednesday before the party from info@wallsofclaymckinney.com. Please check your inbox and bulk or spam folder, then reply with the expected number of painters and guests.

Party Room and Attendance

The 12-foot by 17-foot party room is reserved for your party and accommodates a maximum of 12 painters. The birthday child’s parents may stay, but the room does not have space for extended family or guests’ parents.

Walls of Clay is a small, working studio. The main studio remains open to other customers during regular studio hours, and support staff may be in and out of the party room as needed. We do our best to respect your reserved time. For safety and access, the hallway between the studio and party room must remain clear, and tables in the main studio are reserved for walk-in customers.

Party Length, Arrival, and Activities

Parties are 90 minutes and end at the scheduled time. The birthday family should arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. Painting is the main activity and is completed first, followed by food, the birthday celebration, and gift opening if time allows. Unopened gifts will be sent home.

For younger children, parents should consider whether their child and guests can comfortably participate for 90 minutes. The appropriate age is left to the parent’s discretion.

Party Themes and Pottery Selection

Each party must remain within the theme selected at booking. Keeping the group within one theme creates a smoother experience for guests and the party host and helps our team correctly process and organize the finished pieces.

To ensure we have the right pottery supply and staffing, we recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance. We can often accommodate parties booked 1 week in advance, depending on availability.

Food, Drinks, and Serving Supplies

Simple, finger-friendly food is welcome, but pottery painting is the star of the party and is completed before we serve any food. Most parties bring only a sweet treat. Letting guests know that cake and lemonade will be served helps families plan to eat before or after the party.

Pizza is the most common food we see. You may bring it with you or schedule delivery for about 45 minutes after the party begins so it arrives near the end of painting time. All food is served after painting. Because parties end at the scheduled time, including food may reduce the amount of time available for painting. Hot plates and chafing dishes are not permitted.

Lemonade is provided. If you prefer another drink, such as water, juice boxes, or soda, you are welcome to bring it in a cooler.

We provide colorful plates, white cups, napkins, and sporks, plus a knife for cutting the cake and a lighter for candles. Refrigerator and freezer space is very limited. If you bring ice cream, we strongly recommend individual cups because we don’t provide bowls or an ice cream scoop.

Decorations

Balloons and small tabletop decorations are welcome. Freestanding or tabletop decorations work best. Please keep decorations simple because Walls of Clay is a working creative studio with limited setup and cleanup time between parties. Confetti, glitter, pinatas, and thumbtacks are not permitted.

Kiln Firing and Finished Pieces

Kiln-fired art is handmade, and slight variations and imperfections can occur. Occasionally, an unforeseen defect, kiln mishap, or human error may affect a piece. We handle these situations case by case and do our best to make things right.

Party pieces are generally ready about 7 days after the party, although processing may take longer during holidays or other busy periods. We’ll text you when the pieces are ready for pickup.

Each piece will be individually wrapped and identified with a gift tag showing the painter’s name. The gift tag also includes a $5 return coupon. The birthday family is responsible for picking up and distributing all party pieces.

You must pick up finished pieces within 30 days of the pickup notification. Pieces remaining after 30 days may be donated or discarded, depending on the piece. We do our best to donate unclaimed pottery whenever possible.
